Carol Plaia has made art all her life. She has made masks, costumes, sculpture, paintings, and graphic arts. She has created performance art on the stage and political street performance, and owned a restaurant. She has lived in five states, has lived here in Oregon this time for five years, and hopes to stay forever. She likes to travel and has visited China, Nepal, Indonesia, Ghana, Mexico, and India so far.
She likes to write and has been a literacy tutor. She is a recipient of
the Puffin Foundation Grant for Individual Artists. Her work has been featured on the National Geographic website and in Threads magazine.

Carol served for five years on the Redmond, Washington Arts Commission, with two years as chair, on the Springfield, Oregon Arts Commission for three years, and worked for two years on the staff of the National Women's Caucus for Art. She is a member of the Emerald Empire Art Association Board of Directors.
