I paint my impressions of the Willamette Valley. Plein Air painting of the flowers, landscapes, and people of Oregon are my favorite subjects. Watercolors, acrylics, and gauche are my mediums. They allow me to take the viewer to a different time and place. I have been influenced by Emily Carr, Nelson Sandgren, Eric Sandgren, Lois Enman, Humberto Gonzalez and Bets Cole. I have attended workshops and classes by Lois Enman, Eric Sandgren, Sarkis Antikajian, Val Persoon, Ron Ranson and Bets Cole.
In 2002 my wife, Peggie and I moved to Eugene Oregon from Colorado. In 2004 I joined the Watercolor Society of Oregon, WSO and the Emerald Empire Art Association. In 2005 and 2006 I had works included in the WSO spring shows. My 2006 WSO entry received an "Award of Distinction. My "Little Salmon Trawler that could" was accepted in the 2007 Art About Agriculture show at Oregon State University. In the fall of 2006 I organized the Plein Air Painters of Eugene-Springfield from the students of Humberto Gonzalez's Plein Air Workshop. We paint outside in the Willamette Valley every week.
Prior to moving to Eugene I worked for IBM for 31 years in Texas. My computer programming projects varied from Gemini, Apollo, and Space Shuttle at NASA's Houston Space Center, to word processing, networks and personal computer operating systems in Austin. In addition to my drawing and watercolor classes, I have degrees in mathematics and computer science.
