Ellen Sample makes her home in Springfield, Oregon. She was born in Texas and her family moved to Illinois when she was in the third grade. Her artistic talents, which were evident from a very early age, were encouraged in private art classes. After graduation from high school, she attended Harper College and later was an applied art major at the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urban

Her professional art career began when her friends and work associates, seeing her special talent for painting children, commissioned her to paint portraits of their children and grandchildren. From this beginning, Elle has continued to paint portraits as well as a variety of other subjects. She was a designer for the children's Network "Cards with Heart." Her work can be seen at various locations throughout Springfield and Eugene.

Her new "whimsical" series is a unique signature collection for Elle. Her ability to portray everyday scenes with such a delightful sense of fun makes these paintings especially endearing.

As a mother of three, Ellen's time is filled with raising her children, working as a group fitness instructor and producing scores of watercolors.
